Boston has the second largest population of Brazilian immigrants in the entire United States after Miami. Certain neighbourhoods, like Everett, Framingham, and Allston, abound with Brazilian-owned restaurants and stores. Besides the presence of such communities, the immigrants live and work throughout the entire city. Since many of the city's Brazilians entered the United States illegally, they often work under-the-table-jobs and usually avoid the public eye. Though families and friends back home in Brazil seem to think that the immigrants live like kings in the land of opportunity, they do not take into account that their countrymen overseas work very hard and struggle a great deal.
